Lords in Love: Taming the Rake, Erica Ridley
The second book in the Lords in Love series, with alternating books being written by Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley, is hard to put down until you have finished reading the story of two people who were meant to be together.
Reuben Medford was a London rake, and Gladys Bell was a wallflower who lived in Marrywell. After one accidental meeting, Gladys is thrown out by her family, and left to survive on her own.
When she returns to Marrywell several years later, financially successful, she plans on getting even with Reuben during the Matchmaking Festival which is held annually in May. Reuben tries very hard to charm her. Gladys uses her hourglass during the times she agrees to meet with Reuben, which begins to annoy him.
Although the story has a sad beginning, as that is the way it was for a woman who was considered ruined in that era, the story is interesting and amusing once they meet again at the festival. Once again, Erica Ridley has written an entertaining and fast paced story.
