As we create, flat, fast and flexible organizations the role of the team becomes ever more important.    Whether you lead an established team, have a new team to lead, or you are new to team leadership, the biggest mistake you can make is to embrace the status quo.  In a world where yesterday’s success is never good enough, staying where you are means going backwards.

 

The thinking behind the book was to create what can best be called “an interpretive field guide.”  Not just another book about teams - but a unique an compelling agenda for action.   The book opens with a 40 question team assessment.  Each of the 40 chapters supports one of the assessment questions. Recognizing that time is a precious commodity, each supporting chapter is as succinct as possible.  

    

Each of the 40 chapters is followed by a section entitled “What to do differently on Monday?”  The three questions posed will help you go deeper and provide a framework for next steps.  Thinking, insight and reflection count for naught until put into practice.    Think of the book as a dashboard.  The initial assessment is a way to determine what’s happening.  Each chapter is a source of knowledge, ideas and information about what to do next.
