** Originally published in 2008, Tempt Me with Darkness has been expanded and re-edited. I’ve added over 15,000 new words and two completely new scenes, as well as embedded lots of Easter eggs. I’ve also rewritten everything in first person, present tense and made tweaks to the storytelling for a deeper, richer experience. As the series progresses, I’ll be diverging the overall plot in some notable spots, so this version of the series will be different.

Enchanting and intriguing
TEMPT ME WITH DARKNESS is the first instalment in Shayla Black’s contemporary, adult DOOMSDAY BRETHREN paranormal, fantasy series . This is witch Olivia Gray, and warrior Marrok of Cadbury’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from several first person perspectives including Marrok and Olivia TEMPT ME WITH DARKNESS focuses on the search for the descendant of a powerful witch. Fifteen hundred years earlier Marrok of Cadbury was cursed by a witch, never to die, and never to finish with another woman but when Bram, a fellow warrior believes he has found a blood descendant of the woman who cursed our story line hero, Marrok pursues the woman in an effort to destroy her life. Enter Olivia Gray, a young woman, not yet twenty-five, a woman who knows nothing about her history or the bloodline from which she descends but all is not well when there are others searching for our story line heroine, searching for something she has the power to behold. What ensues is the building but contemptuous relationship between Marrok and Olivia, and the potential fall-out as the past refuses to let go, and our couple must come to terms with the possibility of no happily ever after.
The world building focuses on Arthurian legends, mythology and lore; on magic and power, knights and warriors, kings and princess, betrayal and love. We are introduced to group of warriors calling themselves the Brethren: Marrok’s frenemy Bram Rion, and his sister Sabelle , as well as Isdernus Rykard aka Ice, Lucan, Shock Denzell, Duke Simon Northan; as well as Olivia’s father Richard Gray, and Mathias d’Arc and his army of Anarki.
The relationship between Marrok and Olivia is fated; a destined mating between two beings lost and wandering- one woman with no direction, and a man who is determined to end his life, and the life of the woman that cursed him to never die. From the outset Olivia is intrigued by our hero but Marrok has plans, plans to destroy the bloodline that continues to control his life. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word used liberally (31 times) throughout the story.
TEMPT ME WITH DARKNESS is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, mistrust and magic, forgiveness and love. The premise is enchanting and intriguing; the characters are powerful and energetic; the romance is provocative and seductive.
Amazing story
Shayla Black will take you down the rabbit hole of this world that will enthrall and mystify you. I am not one to read paranormal stories but this story opened my mind to the genre as told by this talented storyteller that is Shayla. Marrok’s heart has been held in Olivia’s hand for centuries and together they will fight evil that threathen them both. They will have to travl a bumpy road of mistrust, fears and dark issues to have an HEA of epic proportion.
