An Apple Books Classic
You get not one, not two, but 25 gripping mysteries in Arthur Conan Doyle’s first of five collections of Sherlock Holmes short stories. Follow the brilliant and eccentric Holmes and his loyal sidekick, Dr. Watson, as they journey to lavish country estates to investigate baffling cases involving indiscreet royal affairs, cheetahs, redheads, and gypsies. Every one of Conan Doyle’s tales is full of surprising - but always logical - twists. (Fun fact: This book includes “The Speckled Band,” the author’s self-proclaimed favorite of all of his Sherlock Holmes short stories.)

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
A light enjoyable read, consistent to the style of other
Sherlock Holmes adventures
Mystery at its purest
The episodic nature of the book made it a little jarring for extended reading sessions; but a joy for a quick chapter here and there. It’s easy to see why Sherlock Holmes as a character has transcend eras and is still relevant to this day. Being a flawed, pompous narcissist made him a perfect contrast to the reader (Watson) and created a great dynamic where you both admire and resent him throughout their adventures.
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Magnificent. The stories are rich in character and environment. The writing has brevity as well as clarity. Triumphant.
