The Autumn Palace

"She just wanted to stay with the boy she loves. Instead, she got a tornado, a rain of fish, and a boyfriend who keeps turning into a ferret.

Ondine de Groot has a plan — a clever one, she's certain. If she can just get herself hired at the Duke's autumn palace, she and her Scottish-accented, curse-afflicted, occasionally-a-ferret boyfriend can stay together and have the kind of adventure she's been dreaming about. Simple. What could possibly go wrong?

Everything, as it turns out. A meddling great-aunt witch hijacks their journey to a remote countryside palace steeped in old magic and older grudges. A mysterious tornado tears through the grounds the moment they arrive. Fish fall from the sky. And Hamish — brilliant, lopsided-grinning, heart-melting Hamish — keeps transforming at the worst possible moments, threatening to unravel everything Ondine has worked so hard to hold together. She's been given a job in the laundry. He's been asked to stay in his animal form. And somewhere in the gleaming corridors of the Autumn Palace, something far more dangerous than bad weather is stirring.

Ondine is smart, stubborn, and absolutely not psychic — but even she can sense that the stakes are rising fast. Can she prove her worth, protect the boy she loves, and untangle the secrets hidden inside these palace walls before whatever is coming finds them first?"
