The Beat Eucharist

Rough Edge is a collective of Durham based Christians, all of whom are part of the same larger worshipping community. The collective often eat, pray, work, learn and worship together. The collective is passionate about Jesus and discipleship and seeks to express this passion through creative worship using various means, including song, liturgy, art, video, photography and poetry. ...Beat Eucharist; I'm thinking Allen Ginsberg, Howl?esque liturgy, with adapted monologue readings in a Kerouac like stream-of?consciousness On The Road manner. I'm thinking musically, the high tempo, ska?lite jazz that induces trance like euphoria, as described in Kerouac. I'm thinking smoky jazz club visuals with sharp contrasts of mountain, wilderness beauty a la Dharma Bums. I'm thinking intercessions that are called out like a voice in the wilderness, some wild?eyed prophets, Old Testament or 50's California....
