As the backup for such legendary goalies as Grant Fuhr, Ron Hextall, Roberto Luongo, and Miikka Kiprusoff, he saw everything--except much playing time. In The Best Seat in the House, McLennan looks back on his unique career, from breaking into the NHL, to working with the legends, to life on the road and in the league, offering readers an unprecedented glimpse into life inside the locker room. Filled with tales of camaraderie and crazy antics, the book covers 20 years on and off the ice--including McLennan's disastrous meeting with Gene Simmons, accidentally calling Lady Gaga a troll to her face, charging an opposing team's mascot on the orders of legendary coach Billy Smith, and even how he hid a hotdog in his gear for an in-game snack.

Labrador beer leaguer ,

Fun read... great guy!

Decided to buy this book based on listening to his antics on overdrive, and I’m glad I did. Some funny stories and insight a 44 year old beer leaguer was happy to hear. I’m not sure if the written word and tv/radio give us honest reflection of what a good person is, but from the stories, the way he carries himself on the air and particularly what he did for Mace’s family, I’d love to have a beer and chat to noodles! Great read!

Fun but....

There are some true gems in this book, the kind any team athlete could refer to. There is never a dull moment so it makes it a fun and easy read. One thing though, and it's major, the streaker who was taken down by Enrico Ciccone is wrong. He wasn't even on the ice when it happened! Which begs the question, are there any other stories that are factually unsound?
