Publisher Description
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia London delivers a sexy new contemporary western, where a lonesome rancher and a no-nonsense cowgirl learn that you don't choose who you fall for--love lassos you....
As the firstborn son, it's been drilled into Nick that he is the heir apparent to the Prince family empire. But cattle ranching has never been his true passion. Nick wants to be a pilot. However, when his father dies, leaving Nick to clean up the mess, he knows he must do his duty before following his heart.
Charlotte Bailey can't believe that Nick is back to run the ranch. As the office manager, she knows it's her responsibility to help him. If only he wasn't so brooding and cranky--and so hot it's a wonder his chaps don't melt right off him. But when sparks fly between them, she's adamant about staying away from a cowboy on his way out the door.
Nick knows the ranch's pretty, smart, and capable office manager is off-limits, but he needs her. And working in such close proximity to Charlotte every day is making Nick crazy. She smells good, she looks good, she makes him laugh, but most of all she makes him want to stay....
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
London's top-notch third entry in the Princes of Texas series (after The Devil in the Saddle) entices with sizzling romantic tension and genuine human conflict. Charlotte Bailey works for Nick Prince as the office manager of Saddlebush Land and Cattle Company in Three Rivers, Tex. Nick always wanted to be a pilot, not a rancher, but, after his father died, he put his plans for flight school on hold to help the struggling family business. Now Nick and Charlotte keep up a near constant stream of contentious but borderline flirtatious workplace banter stemming from their frustration with each other's organizational styles and memories of the passionate night they shared before they became employer and employee. When Nick and Charlotte inevitably give in to their mutual attraction once more and embark on a tentative relationship, their different visions for the future create complications: Charlotte wants to settle down and have children, while Nick still plans on leaving Three Rivers to learn to fly. This painfully plausible conflict is rendered with tenderness and humor. The sweeping emotions and down-to-earth protagonists of this fast-paced love story make it a must-read.

Is love enough when you want different things
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. The Billionaire in Boots by Julia London is the third book in her Princes of Texas series. It’s not necessary to have read the first two books to enjoy this one, but it’s an excellent series, and I highly recommend them all. Nicholas (Nick) Prince had a plan for his life, and it all fell apart when his father died because his father had gambled away quite a bit of the family fortune and as the oldest child responsibility for the Saddlebush Land and Cattle Company fell on him dashing plans to attend flight school. Nick’s great-grandmother described him as being born with a broken heart when he was a baby and he’s beginning to wonder if that’s not true, he’s a cattleman who doesn’t eat meat, has several rescue animals, and can’t even admit to himself that the reason he’s upset about his office manager dating is because he’s pining for her himself but too much of a gentleman to ever do anything about it because he’s her boss and he doesn't want kids. Charlotte Bailey wants a family, and she’s worried that it’s not going to happen… dating sucks, her poor eggs are getting older and then there’s Nick, she knows he wants to kiss her but he’s never going to make the first step. This is a lovely slow-burn romance with a hero and a heroine that you can’t help but cheer for, and I enjoyed it very much. Medium Steam.
