The Legend of the Black Guard series book 1: Quest For The Inviolable Man
Tragic events that lead to the death of billions have fractured the bond between mankind and the Horaxians, turning interstellar allies into bitter enemies. Now, Adcox, a young marine officer, is caught in a savage war that has lasted longer than he’s been alive. One that has broken the human condition, and flung a boy into a man’s world.
With the arrival of the greatest horror either race has ever witnessed, the inescapability of extinction forces humanity and their hated adversary to forge an unwanted alliance. Adcox and his team are tasked on a covert mission, where survival of all life hinges on them finding just one man…a knight of the deadly and mysterious Black Guard. He’s a man that none trusts, few believe is alive, but all agree that he is the most dangerous man in the universe.
The Black Guard takes you on an epic science fiction adventure of a young man’s battle against the enemy external and within, and his struggle to place his faith in a powerful warrior whose past is shrouded with both virtue and villainy.
Sci-fi fans will delight in this Starship Troopers meets The Lord of the Rings military science fantasy tale. The legend of the Black Guard…begins.
Customer Reviews
A hurried and rushed end.
I found the book entertaining because I love sci-fi. I imagine others would find the typos and grammatical errors devastating but I just inserted the words I deemed correct and soldiered through. I did not appreciate the mk1 at first being described larger than life then finding it much smaller. I did not like the hurried and hasty pace of the last chapters. The holes in the descriptions felt large enough to fly a planet through. I don't like wondering how the hell Adcox is going to command the big ship with out eve. I'm not sure I want to spend money on the next book. Anticipating the huge holes in the story and the clear lack of adherence anything at all resembling authentic soldiering has me worried. Only the characters are keeping me interested. I would like a more believable interaction with each other and a more authentic description of human interaction in general. The almost comical and disingenuous banter and communication between the individuals has to stop. It has to be more believable or I fear no one with any sort of formal education will even bother reading it. Just poorly educated such as myself will endure it just for the sake of envisioning it as a badly plotted Japanese anime. Please get the help of a really good editor, this one should be ashamed of letting you take a good idea like this and mangling it with shoddy work.
