Falling in love on the job becomes an absolute minefield in this swoony romantic comedy. Hannah earns her living as a bodyguard for the wealthy and elite, but her latest assignment is a little unusual: protecting a seriously hot movie star while also pretending to be his girlfriend. Author Katherine Center weaves a riotous plot full of sticky situations and even a few real scares, artfully mixing serious themes like heartbreak and loss with the irresistible quirkiness of a classic rom-com. Center’s characters, including the vain but secretly sweet actor Jack, are vividly drawn and often very funny. The Bodyguard is full of heart and laughs.

Catherine Center The Body Guard
Catherine Center’s The Body Guard is a great novel particularly her witty banter between the main characters Hannah and the principal person she’s protecting. Center creates humour by juxtaposing the two, and showing how they are different physically and personally, as well as inter-relationally. Their playful flirtatious back-and-forth misunderstanding and disagreements are captivating. I enjoyed getting a sense of all the detail collection a body guard needs to be proactively assessing to care for their clients, regardless of whether the client understands or fully appreciates it
Ohmiword… stayed up till 3:30am reading this!!
Absolutely loved this book! I really couldn’t put it down (which doesn’t happen often in reading for me). It felt light hearted and fun, but then brought in struggles and hard emotions that didn’t feel forced or unrealistic. I can’t wait to read more by Katherine Center 😊
