The Book

‘The Book’ is a children’s poem about a boy who is so emotionally involved in the chapter book his mother has been reading him, that he doesn’t want it to end. He begs her to read anything else so that he can prolong the story for another night.

‘The Book’ was inspired by the author’s son, whose love for Enid Blyton’s ‘The Faraway Tree’ as a young boy, remained a special memory. His grief at the prospect of finishing the book was something Victoria Sullivan recognised in book lovers, young and old. ‘The Book’ celebrates the love of reading, and encourages discussion on the emotions books have the ability to provoke.
