The Boundary

The Smarts move to a new small city with distinctive boundary lines, separating it from the larger, fast-moving adjoining community. Its boundaries hold in quiet and peacefulness. They also hold in something else!

Dad goes to work one day and never returns. Mother is distraught and withdrawn, but later menacing. No one in the new community will talk with the children; they are alienated, except to be warned not to leave the boundaries of the city. Risking whatever dangers they might face in the larger, adjoining community, the children seek their father. They must have answers, and leaving their city seems to be the only way to get them.
