The Broken Child

Set 450 years into the future the world has changed.  There are not enough females.   Anna's laws saved the last females from lives of hardship and were brought into being as a way to equal the balance between the sexes.    

Marianna de Montmercy has not always had the full protection of Anna's laws and even though she lives in Spark City as a free woman she feels trapped.  Broken in body, she uses a walking stick to aid her in every day life.

Scott Jackson lives in one of the Border territories.  His previous chosen was murdered as a consequence of a trade gone bad.  He isn't the same and it is breaking his family apart.  Can he understand the reasons for Mari's differences enough to take a chance on love again?
