It seemed shocking when this mixed-up, foulmouthed prep-school reject became the hero of teens all around the world. But more than half a century later, Holden’s radically authentic voice continues to entrance readers of all ages. By the time you finish reading this heartbreaking and hilarious story of disillusionment, Holden’s collapse seems like the only sane reaction to this “crappy” and “phony” world we live in.

Had to look up what it was about
CITR was a good book, the only "problem" i had with it was i was a hundred pages in and still couldn't understand what it was about. Listen, i don't read a bunch of classics, i do enjoy me some YA fantasy most of the time, so my confusion was only explainable. When I understood and looked it up though, i found myself liking it quite a lot. I finished it a couple of minutes ago and i've been thinking about Holden and just how well he can live in his own skin, or for how long. He is worrying to say the least, but his mind is something to be explored. I recommend it, but truly look into it before if you're not familiar with classics. Don't be like me!
Middle third is tough to get through
Interesting narrative style. Some entertaining parts to the book. The middle third is repetitive and boring. Made me even more depressed (a nod to one very repetitive line)
Vivid personality
Holden Caulfield is one of the most idiosyncratic narrators I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
