Originally self-published, the book sold phenomenally, sparked by word of mouth, and may be this year's The Bridges of Madison County --with which it shares some regrettable stylistic similarities. The saga begins when the unnamed middle-aged male narrator whimsically quits his nondescript life to track down an ancient Peruvian manuscript (pretentiously called the Manuscript) containing nine Insights that supposedly prophesy the modern emergence of New Age spirituality. South of the border, he encounters resistance from the Peruvian government and church authorities, who believe the document will undermine traditional family values. While dodging evil soldiers, paranoid priests and pseudoscientific researchers, our hero sequentially discovers all nine Insights during a series of chance encounters. Redfield has a real talent for page-turning action, and his lightweight quest employs auras, energy transfers and other psychic phenomena. But several of the Insights are incredibly vacuous and politically correct, and long stretches of dialogue are banal and cliched. One of a kind
A true masterpiece.
Fiction? I wonder…
Enlightening and Expansive
I am already reading the book again as I know that the messages that are interwoven into the adventure are important. The book is exciting and enlightens your knowledge of personal and collective energy in spirituality on so many levels. It Expands your knowledge of how we are connected not only to each other but to nature and how to trust and expand our own personal energy in life. When we do so we have the power to make a positive shift in our surroundings and ultimately our world.
A guide to experience
This book sat on my shelf for a year before I read it, then I picked it up at a time filled with anxiety and a lack of direction. Anyone who understands the first insight will recognize that this is the perfect time for this book. It took the tiny cracks in this "reality" made by the glimpses of what lies beyond our common perception and pulled my awareness through them and in to the light. I pray that anyone feeling lost right now will find this book and trust their intuition to pick it up.
