APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Yet another Nicholas Sparks love story that’s perfect for a movie adaptation, The Choice explores the dilemmas that can pull a couple apart…or bond them forever. When neighbors Gabby and Travis fall in love, their world becomes perfect, until a tragedy forces them to prove the depth of their feelings with a gut-wrenching decision. A nuanced exploration of love and marriage, this novel left us teary-eyed but hopeful.
In his 13th book, bestselling Sparks (At First Sight, etc.) limns the far-reaching implications of several seemingly ordinary choices made by Beaufort, N.C. veterinarian Travis Parker and his next-door neighbor Gabrielle Holland, a physician's assistant and recent arrival. After an inauspicious first meeting where Gabby accuses Travis's boxer of impregnating her purebred collie, the two fall hard for each other. Already dating someone else seriously, Gabby is faced with a dilemma: whether to stick with longtime boyfriend Kevin, or get involved with Travis. The first part of the tale paints a vivid picture of her decision-making process and its effects on Travis and Gabby's lives. That sets up Part II, which takes place 11 years later when Travis faces a life and death decision following a car accident. A tender and moving love story and a quick read, Sparks's latest does not disappoint.
This book was excellent! It hooked me right from the beginning. I couldn't put it down and wanted to keep reading!!!
This was one of those books that you can't wait to get back to.
Gone are my days of being able to read a book cover-to-cover in one sitting; not with young children around. So with that I truly looked forward to my own quiet time where I got to read my book.
This books starts out light and fluffy with their budding romance. Then the author jumps us ahead to current time and we know something happens; the details are not clear. But on the road to telling us what happens we continue to see Travis and Gabby's love grow and deepen.
The true power of love....sometimes when we don think we can live without our spouse, we need to be a little selfish in order for love to prevail.
