The Collateral -- Part 4: Breeding Stock

Even after all the broken promises, I still thought there were limits to my family’s greed. Some lines that they would never cross. Some things that they would never make me do.

But I underestimated the market.

The country’s hunger for slave labor is insatiable. The breeders can’t keep up with the demand.
And a fertile blond slave like me is worth his weight in gold.

The other slave owners in town have started to complain. They say that my dad is being unpatriotic by keeping a prime piece of breeding stock like me off the market. That he must be a damn fool to turn down all the easy money that he could make by renting me out as a stud.

I was sure that my dad wouldn’t listen to them. That he’d never let my children be born in chains.

But I’d forgotten: I wasn’t his son anymore. I was his property.

And as a businessman, my father expects his property to produce a return.
