The third installment in Dean Koontz's Jane Hawk suspense series finds the rogue FBI agent on the trail of the shadowy cabal behind a shocking government conspiracy, while also trying to protect her hidden-away son. Shot through with hair-trigger violence and a Black Mirror–like sense of incipient doom, this breathless thriller feels intensely urgent.

Hard to follow
His usual great writing but there were two stories in one. Could not follow the other thread so had to skip every other chapter! Did not Ike this!
Unique concept/story, but strains credulity, is often mawkishly patriotic, and MUCH too long ...
Though fiction often out of necessity (or design) will/must employ some degree of sensationalism, the books in this series to this point - far too frequently - strains credulity. Combine the books’ none-too-subtle mawkishness position on “true patriotism” and obvious moralizing, along with a lack of editing and concision (likely due to the publisher kowtowing to the author’s fame and prominence), and the reader just gets tired. Clearly the publisher is intending to drag out this series as long as possible thus maximizing revenues This series is not really five, six, or whatever number of books it eventually ends up being, but maybe two or three smaller books; at most!
