Must Read - Finally answers that make sense about sugar, carbs and fat
Neither my brother or myself are diabetic. But given the way our society eats, many of us have type 2 diabetes lurking round the corner.
I read this book on recommendation from my brother, who has seen the weight drop and health improve.
The book proposes a well thought out, fact based approach to a way of eating for a healthy life, not just a quick way to mindlessly lose weight. Very refreshing given all the hocus pocus approaches out there.
Once Bernstein has explained how sugars, carbs, insulin and fat interact, the light bulb goes off and you look back at your health and those of loved ones and friends and say - finally an explanation that makes sense. Being an engineer, I went the extra step and got a glucose meter to measure my own blood sugar levels to see first hand if what he said was true....It is!!
Once I shared the approach and blood sugar results with my family, they too embraced the need to act, and we are all seeing a noticeable improvement in our health, fat reduction, double checked by first hand blood sugar tests....
Thanks for Your dedication to getting the word out Dr. Berstein !!!!!
Diabetic Diet
Not the greatest adaptation to an app-book: in text references to page numbers are to the hard copy text & do impossible to find in the app text; fractions sometimes come out as 'G' or 'H'--who knows what that is supposed to mean--this renders some recipes useless.
You can get a reasonably good overview of the diet Bernstein is advocating but some of the details are not so clear. Also, many of the recipes appear to have 24 or more grams of carbohydrate per serving--which belies Bernstein's recommendation of 6-12-12 gms of carbohydrate over each day. That's confusing.
