The Duke’s Secret Heir by Sarah Mallory
The Duke’s Secret Heir by Sarah Mallory is a historical romance set during Napoleon’s reign in France that spilled over to Spain. The references to various cities in Spain and of English men serving in the war gave the novel authenticity. i can’t imagine what it would be like for a late 1700’s woman who finds herself pregnant and unsure as to where her husband is during this turbulent war filled time. Women were second class, treated as inferior to men, and the main character Ellen seems too patient to be believable. I suppose that’s how women had to be to survive: demure, forbearing, and ever the person serving others.
