Publisher Description
Palliative care had its origins in the British hospice movement but over the last 20 years has evolved in both concept and practice far beyond the original goal of improving terminal care, its terms of reference changing from 'terminal' to 'long-term supportive' care. Defining and understanding palliative care for individuals living with HIV and AIDS remains a challenge as the divisions between curative and aggressive care, and between supportive and palliative care, are variable and not clearly defined.
