The First Epistle of Paul to Timothy

The Purpose of the Epistle:

The burden of the Apostle Paul in this epistle is that Christians would be found walking according to the due order of God’s house, and thus, a testimony would be rendered to the world of the true character of God as the Savior-God and as the Creator-God. Paul charges Timothy with an apostolic mandate to lead the saints in doctrine and practice to this end.



Even though Paul wrote long before the rise and development of the systems of error that can now be readily identified in Christendom, it is quite amazing that he would expose the essence of those systems in this letter to Timothy. It is a confirmation that he wrote under inspiration.
