The Future's Knot The Future's Knot

The Future's Knot

Publisher Description

The Future’s Knot was an exhibition responding to a world in which power, perception and culture are increasingly mediated by technologies of all kinds. Featuring 11 contemporary Australian visual artists working between traditional and new media, it took place from 3-26 October 2014 at The Lock-Up, Newcastle.

This catalogue documents and expands upon the exhibition with an extended text by curator Peter H. Johnson, installation images, artist biographies, and list of works, with introductory texts by the directors of Critical Animals and The Lock-Up. The exhibited artists were Kylie Banyard, Vicky Browne & Darren Seltmann, Tristan Derátz, Benjamin Forster, Jonny Niesche, Baden Pailthorpe, Philjames, Josephine Skinner, Giselle Stanborough, Marian Tubbs, and Pia van Gelder.

The Future’s Knot was the official exhibition of Critical Animals 2014, a sub-festival of the long-running This Is Not Art festival held annually in Newcastle, Australia.
