Publisher Description
The riveting account of a girl who was abandoned in the jungle and lived among monkeys.
In the early 1950s, in a remote mountain village in South America, a small girl was abducted then abandoned deep in the Colombian jungle. For approximately the next five years she lived with a troop of capuchin monkeys and gradually became feral. Taken from the jungle by a pair of hunters, she was sold as a slave to a couple who beat and tortured her, and then spent several years as a street child before being taken in by a family of criminals. Finally, a sympathetic neighbour arranged for her to go live with her daughter in safety in Bogota. This is a unique and inspiring story of abandonment, despair, and eventual happiness.

The girl with no name
This was an excellent book, incredible story and a beautiful positive lesson in life. I would like very much to know about Luz adult life. How was her full life with Maria. How and when she met her husband. What did she do as a adult. How her kids were raised and educated etc... Did Luz ever thought of being hypnotize to try to unlock her life before 4 years old? I hope there will be a second book on this beautiful story. Congratulations to every one involved in the book.
An insightful view on a womens story.
I am in highschool, and yes, it was a choice to read this book. I am so glad I did. This book allowed me not only to view how humans adapt to whatever they are taught when young and influencial, but how extremley difficult it is for someone when they are ripped away from all they’ve ever known. This is not just about a women who was raised by monkeys. This is about a girl who was abducted, left alone, cared for, nurtured for, and thrown back into the cruel world only to see that all she was, was not an animal. She was a human. And although she faces many challanges regarding doing so, she did it. This is an inspirational peice of work and if I could ever meet this author I would tell her how brave she was to have written to book.
