The Hemp Hotel

Ryan Winters’ life reads like a medical transcription: tall, obedient, non-descript white male; 26; no hemorrhoids…yet.  A third generation OBGYN in training, he is struggling toward his last set of finals at Vanderbilt University when his grandfather, Pop, who left his wife and disappeared in Amsterdam three years earlier, dies and leaves a will designated exclusively for him.  The will is located in Amsterdam, and Ryan must leave within 72 hours to obtain it.  Aided by a cast of characters including a mime, a blind priest, a gay financial consultant, an ex-pat panderer, several friends of Mother Goose, and a village of prostitutes, Ryan embarks on a journey unearthing a fifty-year long-lost love affair between his grandfather and another woman.  Was his grandfather truly slipping away into the world of dementia, as his parents had suspected?  Or had his Pop’s life within the circuitous canals of Amsterdam finally come full circle?  Ryan’s best chance for unraveling the mystery may lie deep within himself.
