Fall back in love with the Aincourts in this fan-favorite historical romance from New York Times bestselling author Candace Camp, originally published in 2002.
His life in ruins, Richard, Duke of Cleybourne, returns to his country estate to recover from a tragic loss he’d suffered four years earlier. However, his solitude is interrupted by the arrival of Miss Jessica Maitland, a flame-haired governess who presents her charge, Gabriella, as Richard’s new ward.
As if their unwelcome presence weren’t bad enough, Jessica also reveals that Gabriella’s life is in danger. Someone is after the young girl’s fortune—someone who might be closer than Richard could ever guess. And even with danger mounting, Richard finds it harder and harder to deny his growing feelings for Jessica.
When a raging snowstorm brings an odd assortment of guests to Cleybourne Castle, violence strikes, and Richard and Jessica find themselves on the hunt for a killer. Can they unravel the darkness at the heart of Cleybourne, before it’s too late?

AMAZING READ!!!
This was absolutely an AMAZING READ!!!
Ever since reading the first in this series I’ve been waiting to read all about Richard, he’s such a virile sexy man he just ouzes sensuality. I read this in one sitting I just couldn’t put it down. What seems to be a man mourning the love of his life is not as everyone thought there’s a scandal behind that. But the loss of his little girl has left a huge hole in his heart. Jessica is awesome doesn’t take any crap by no one especially a snobbish Duke you will not meet his ward. Both characters had amazing chemistry their witty banter so full of sexual tension just heated up the pages. Lots of intense moments a mystery and so many secondary characters that just keep you on your toes with intrigue. This was just superbly done and I can’t wait to read the next one!
Candace Camp has the gift of a true story teller!
I recieved a complimentary copy, this is my honest unbiased opinion.
