The Homecoming

Ria returns home because a beloved family member is sick, after years of living apart from her family. Upon returning to her roots, she is forced to remember why she left in the first place. Growing up as a Filipina girl in Toronto, and being raised to have a firm faith, this book celebrates 'love' in all its forms: love between a mother and child, a spouse, parents and siblings. It is a journey that we take with Ria from her adolescence to adult life and how she manages to combine her Filipino and Canadian cultures through her family and friends and her own personal interests that help to shape her life.
