Brunsol Mindspear is the chief inquisitor of the Bounded Land, where prayers do not go unanswered. Without the constant prayer of each and every soul, rain would not fall, pests would multiply and crops would wither on the stalk. Therefore heresy must be stamped out with terror and torture, lest it lead to plague and famine; and so Brunsol is steeped in blood after decades of tyranny in the service of God.


But when his long life finally ends and he goes to meet his maker, he finds surprises in the world above. For there are many universes beyond his own, each layered outside the next. Brunsol must seek the true power in the worlds above, and take his vengeance for all the horrors wrought upon him in the worlds below.
