The Lawmen

Four brothers leave the family plantation in Virginia for various reasons after the War Between the States. Each of the four end up pinning on the badge of a lawman and starting a new life maintaining order in an untamed land.

In Book 1: The Cavalier, Noah MacLean, the oldest brother, who rode with John Mosby during the war becomes a Pinkerton detective. A case he is assigned leads him to San Francisco. He pins on the badge of the Sheriff of Calaveras County.

In Book 2: Lonestar Ranger, Daniel MacLean, who rode with J.B. Hood during the war ends up in Uvalde, Texas wearing a Texas Ranger's badge. His grit and unwavering dedication help prevent an all-out war on the Nueces River.

In Book 3: Prescott, Zeke MacLean, the only brother to fight for the Union during the war, is assigned to Fort Whipple in Arizona. As Captain MacLean, he solves the mystery of who is raiding local settlements and blaming the native tribes. Resigning from the army, he becomes the first sheriff of Prescott and Yavapai County.

In Book 4: Big Sky Marshal, David MacLean heads west to embark on a cattle drive from Texas to Montana. He discovers that drawing the line between right and wrong requires grit and the willingness to use his Colt. He settles in Montana with a Marshal's badge pinned to his vest.
