The Lodestone Puzzle

Criminologist Zenobia Batiste defies orders to prove her theory about a serial killer's identity. When she's ultimately proven right, it does little to ease her boss's fury at the DOJ. As punishment, she's transferred to a new unit.

It's 2084, and the United States has established a new colony on the moon. Officially, NASA and the DOJ have created a joint agency to screen candidates for the lunar colony and long-term assignments aboard space stations. But that's only the public story.

Dr. Zen, a forensic socialist with a Ph.D. specializing in criminal activity within off-world communities, is also a clinical social worker—an ideal background for evaluating candidates and investigating wrongdoing. The government has a troubling problem: suspicious deaths at a space training camp on Earth, and at least one more in the fledgling moon colony.
