The London Conductor

Folly, bad behaviour, ominous threats: The London Conductor follows the intertwined lives of an assembly of contemporary Londoners - through the streets, waterways and parks of the city, with excursions to Ireland, Lisbon and even the Amazon - as they try to cope with life-changing events.

Guy, an idle intellectual, spends a short period of redundancy trying to satirise the follies of modem urban life. Eva, dumped by her Celtic charmer bad boy activist boyfriend, begins to rebuild her life. Alfie, amused by his own middle aged crisis, juggles jobs and friendships while looking for fulfilment. Sarah, a government agent, struggles to balance duty and personal issues. Bob, a disillusioned former public servant, makes plans to hit back at the establishment he thinks betrayed him.

This episodic novel shows how these individuals use each other, adventure, humour (and the occasional drink) to find ways to cope with modern urban challenges as they seek excitement and contentment.
