The Metamorphosis Of Obidyjah Grumbles

LIFELONG GROUCH Obidyjah (O-bə-dī-yə) Grumbles lives up to his name every chance he gets. He grouses about everything, he hates everyone (most especially children), he talks to no one, and anyone who has had the displeasure of being around him knows that he has a volcanic temper, capable of blowing up at just the littlest thing, so you’d better run for cover if he becomes the slightest bit upset. But a mystical visit from a laughably chatty Irish “Faerie” Godmother named Aoibheann changes everything. Swarmed over with sudden feelings of tenderness, caring, and worldly wonder, Obidyjah undertakes an elaborate project—the construction of a dollhouse for a local girl. But with Aoibheann off on vacation, the old Obidyjah Grumbles, not so easily defeated, surfaces and is appalled with what he is becoming. Thrown suddenly into a tailspin of horror and self-doubt, Obidyjah must find himself before he disappears into a world of charity and kindness he barely understands and certainly doesn’t trust.
