It is October 1981. Satch (William Hillard) was forced to retire from the Marine Corps after thirty years of dedicated service to his country. Then his only friend (Manny) died leaving Satch alone and desperate. Satch decided that it was time to end his own life. As he sat in the kitchen of his dilapidated farmhouse with his service weapon he noticed something peculiar about his broken down shed in the backyard. Someone’s foot was sticking through the six inch gap at the bottom of the door.  Satch ran out in the rain and swung open the door to the shed. He discovered a seven year old boy (Gilmore) and his black and white spotted dog (Dom).

Satch’s whole life is about to turn upside down. After having to keep Gilmore and Dom overnight he tried to turn Gilmore over to the County the next morning. He was forced to keep Gilmore until the authorities in the small town of Sweetwater Tennessee could sort out where he came from. A child just appears with no history and the only thing he can remember is his address, eight Sara. As if this wasn’t enough for Satch, just a few days later another child shows up. Just recovering from the appearance of Gilmore here is Chelsea Marie with her dog King Arthur. She appeared in Satch’s shed much like Gilmore and his dog. Soon the whole town gets involved. Suddenly people are starting to realize that Satch is not as mean as everyone thought and Satch begins to realize just how big his heart really is.
