The Imagery of trees is a purposeful one.  Not only do trees continue to grow taller throughout the various seasons of life, but also the "Heartwood" is the core... or the "heart" a the tree.  

Although the growth of a tree is generally determined by its height, the “Heartwood’s” by name, place the emphasis back on the inside. 1Cor. 7:14 is the inspiration to this story.  As a result, there are many lessons to be learned from discovering the worth found in simple jars of clay.
