World title challenger Mark Prince suffered only one loss in the ring as a professional boxer. But it was the heartbreaking loss of his son that left him lying on the canvas and struggling to get back up. This is a story of pain and hope. A story of fighting to save young lives…
On 18 May, 2006, Kiyan Prince, a 15-year-old football prodigy at QPR’s academy, was stabbed to death outside his school in north London trying to prevent another boy from being bullied.
Driven by his son’s murder, Mark set up the Kiyan Prince Foundation in 2008, and has since been on a mission to save lives and avoid other parents experiencing this devastation. He now devotes his time to mentoring and educating youths in schools, colleges and prisons.
His selfless pursuit of reducing knife crime has made him a celebrated figure. From 10 Downing Street, to winning a host of national awards, Mark is on a mission to save young lives.
Mark endured a traumatic childhood. Beaten mercilessly by his pro boxer father, he ran away. Homeless and desperate, he slept in cars, doorways and spiralled into a life of alcohol, drugs and street fights before boxing gave him an escape route and the inner strength he would need to call on in search of salvation during his darkest hours.
Written by Paul Zanon, it pulls no punches on street life in 2018.
