Mary Eliza Isabella Frere (1845–1911) was an English author of works regarding India. Frere was born at the rectory of Bitton in Gloucestershire. She had a  Frere published the first English-language field-collected book of Indian storytales “Old Deccan Days” in 1868. She published several poems and a play. Mary Frere had a nicknamed May.
