For the hardworking folks of Morgantown, home really is where the heart is. But sometimes it takes leaving for a while to figure that out . . .
Kaiden Miller may be the family jokester, but he takes his work on their ranch very seriously. And as a sought-after master carpenter to boot, he’s busier than ever. Still, when he’s asked to renovate the neighboring ranch, he’s more than willing. The owner, Juan Garcia, is ailing, and Kaiden expects to find the property pretty run down. He doesn’t expect to find his old nemesis—Juan’s daughter,
Julia—overseeing his work . . .
Julia’s not sure why Kaiden never liked her. But if working with him makes life easier for her father, so be it. Yet to her surprise, not only is Kaiden great with her father, he’s great with her too. As the weeks pass, it becomes harder to ignore their simmering attraction. And when Julia’s boss turns up with a sweet deal, both she and Kaiden will have to decide where their loyalties—and their hearts—lie . . .

Pearce's enticing fourth Millers of Morgan Valley romance (after The Rebellious Rancher) highlights the relationship between a small-town cowboy and a big-city attorney. San Francisco lawyer Julia Garcia returns home to Morgan Valley, Calif., to help care for her father, Juan, whose multiple sclerosis is worsening. There she becomes reacquainted with Kaiden Miller, her brother's childhood friend and the rancher/carpenter hired to remodel her father's ranch. Their mutual attraction is undeniable, but good-natured Kaiden, who uses humor as a coping mechanism to deal with his mercurial father, worries that Julia will return to San Francisco and leave him in the lurch. Meanwhile, Julia's brother, Miguel, teams up with Julia's work rival to convince Juan to sell his ranch and when the scheme comes to light, it creates a rift between Julia and Kaiden just as their relationship is blossoming. Pearce effortlessly draws readers in to Kaiden and Julia's romance, using the characters' shared past to ease their transition from friends to lovers. Series fans will be entranced. \n
I loved this book! The drama of life & love is well told in this book as in the other books in all the series of Morgan Valley. I kept wondering in the first 2 books who would be a great match for Kaiden, his character was very deep even though he played the part of a joker, peacemaker & carefree guy most of the time. I really liked Julia as his match, she’s strong, intelligent, beautiful & has a heart full of love, worthy of someone like Kaiden. We watched the constant chemistry between Julia & Kaiden bubble over each time they were around one another until it exploded & what a great experience that was. I love how author Kate Pearce keeps us on the edge wondering how long it will be before they realize that they’re meant for each other. I also enjoyed how Kaiden showed up with his evidence to prove his belief in Julia after their big blow up. I’m curious as to what will happen next for them & wonder if her brother will show his face around town again. Definitely recommend. Thank you to Net Galley & the publisher & author Kate Pearce for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.
