I always knew I was different.
From a young age, my mind has been plagued with things only I could see. Some hauntingly beautiful, others completely terrifying. Never knowing if these visions were real or just hallucinations, I learned how to lock them down and ignore them. I learned to take solace in the relative anonymity of city life and find peace in the rainy days my city of Seattle is known for.
But just when I think my life is getting on track and my dreams are achievable, a moment of weakness causes me to learn a hard and fast lesson.
My entire existence has been a lie.
Now I’m faced with a new reality that’s as implausible as it is fantastical. Filled with realms and veils, light and dark, fae and daemons, gods and angels—things I don’t understand but am forced to acknowledge. It doesn’t help that the man teaching me about my unique gifts is the gorgeously handsome Carrick Byrne, one of Seattle’s richest and most powerful men. He intimidates, annoys, and intrigues me all at the same time. I don’t trust him and yet there’s no one else to help me.
No longer certain who to put my faith in, what to believe, or how I fit into it all, one revelation is clear…
The world as I know it will never be the same again.
The Revelation of Light and Dark is book one of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.
The Revelation of Light and Dark
The Revelation of Light and Dark is the beginning of a new paranormal urban fantasy series The Chronicles of the Stone Veil.
Finley is a barista living in Seattle who comes to realize that she has the ability to see beyond the veil, the glamour of the Fae. Carrick is one of the richest men in Seattle and he has a vested interest in Finley and her abilities.
Mystery, magic, fae and demons all play a part in the first installment of The Chronicles of the Stone Veil series. The book starts off a little slow for my liking as we go through the backstory, which is common at the beginning of a series. The ending has me looking forward to the next book in the series.
"...despite how much he confuses me on any given day, he's the only one who can see me through to salvation."
4.5stars-startling and imaginative
4.5 stars--THE REVELATION OF LIGHT AND DARK is the first instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL paranormal/ urban fantasy series focusing on twenty eight year old Finley Porter.
Told from first person perspective (Finley) and third person (Carrick) THE REVELATION OF LIGHT AND DARK follows twenty-eight year old barista Finley Porter as she is pulled into a world she knows nothing about. From an early age Finley has been treated for mental illness, for a series of hallucinations that were destroying her world but an opportunity to purchase the business for which she works brings Finley up close and personal with billionaire business Carrick Byrne, as man who is something more than Finley could have ever imagined-Finley has a powerful ability, one of which Carrick is desperate to uncover and sharpen. As Finley learns to navigate the new world in which she has been throw, she will quickly discover that the people she once knew and loved may not be quite human, and may have targeted our heroine for destruction. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Finley and Carrick, and the fall-out as Finley’s power reveal more than she could have ever imagined.
THE REVELATION OF LIGHT AND DARK reveals a little bit of Finley’s past, her new found ability to see through the veils, the glamor of which Dark and Light Fae, and daemons use to conceal their true identities. A mixture of paranormal and urban fantasy THE REVELATON OF LIGHT AND DARK is a startling and imaginative character driven introduction to Sawyer Bennett’s new CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL series. The Revelation of Light and Dark is a slow build that ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
