Publisher Description
An American girl finds her prince in this hilarious royal romance inspired by Prince William and Kate Middleton.
"Full of love and humor, and delicious in too many ways." —Emma Straub, New York Times bestselling author This Time Tomorrow
American Bex Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister Lacey was always the romantic, the one who daydreamed of being a princess. But it's adventure-seeking Bex who goes to Oxford and meets dreamy Nick across the hall—and Bex who finds herself accidentally in love with the heir to the British throne.
Nick is wonderful, but he comes with unimaginable baggage: a complicated family, hysterical tabloids tracking his every move, and a public that expected its future king to marry a Brit.
On the eve of the most talked-about wedding of the century, Bex looks back on how much she's had to give up for true love ... and exactly whose heart she may yet have to break.
"Hysterical" —Entertainment Weekly
"Engrossing and deeply satisfying." —Jen Doll, author of Save the Date
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Anyone who’s ever snatched up a supermarket tabloid to get the latest on their favourite royal celebrities will enjoy this lighthearted romantic comedy, loosely inspired by Prince William and Duchess Kate. Irreverent and hilarious, the novel follows American university student Rebecca "Bex" Porter as she navigates an unexpected romance with Britain's Prince Nicholas. Being a future princess isn't for the faint of heart—we witness Bex contend with everything from the paparazzi and cliquish nobles to armpit Botox. The Royal We charmed us with its modern spin on an age-old fairy tale.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Cocks and Morgan, the bloggers behind Go Fug Yourself, charm readers with this modern-day Cinderella tale. When American Rebecca "Bex" Porter decides to travel to Oxford, U.K., as an exchange student in the fall of 2007, the last thing she imagines is that she might fall in love with the country's future king. Prince Nicholas also known as Nick Wales is used to the hassles of the monarchy, but in Bex he sees his future and a chance for a normal, real relationship. Bex's American-ness bothers some of the upper crust Brits, and the press relentlessly focuses on her. A series of breakups ensues, and familial missteps further complicate matters, but readers will root for Bex to get her happy ending. Parallels to the love story of Prince William and Kate Middleton are obvious, but the authors create their own unique and endearing characters with Bex and Nick along with an entertaining cast of characters including lovable rogue Prince Freddie, Nick's younger brother; Bex's twin, Lacey; and a bunch of colorful school chums. Royal watchers and chick-lit fans alike will delight in this sparkling tale. Pure fun.
