The Slow Route Home

Miguel has sold his 4-wheel drive truck and with the proceeds bought a mule. Everyone in the village believes he is crazy, but Miguel follows a wisdom far greater than those that mock him. Miguel's neighbours, his dog and the pale neighbour with the burnt trees are about to learn the benefits of going slow.

This is a short story and forms the first part of the Radical Routes trilogy featuring the Pooch of Great Wisdom.

It is set against a backdrop of the drought-hit, sun-scorched terrain amongst the olive groves of inland Andalusia. Local Olive farmer, Miguel has a simple philosophy, to live the way he thinks the world should be. Though it may confound his neighbours, this simple philosophy and way of life has come to symbolise another path open to us all.

Part 2 of the series, Inside the Tortilla, takes the Hound to deeper into the very heart of the province, and a small town, tucked in a valley between the cities of Granada, Seville and Malaga. There he is introduced to a cast of characters and discovers a series of recipes for another way of living.

In Part 3, The Way of the Hound, on route to that great kennel in the sky, the Pooch of Great Wisdom is asked to reflect back on what he has learned, and what messages, if any, he would like to leave for the human race.
