The Speaking Gale

One morning Garent finds a woman's body lying stretched out in his garden, for all the world as if she'd dropped out of the sky. He thinks she's dead, at first, but when she miraculously revives, he starts to fall in love with her. Meanwhile a great and terrible gale begins to blow, ravaging the little town of Blaquoby. Why is the mysterious woman so frightened and fascinated by the gale? What is she running from? And how can Garent save her from the fate she dreads? Porthariel, or The Speaking Gale is a short folktale-inspired story, part of the collection Blaquoby: Country Town Tales.
