The Spotted Cottage by the Sea
The Spotted Cottage by the Sea by Amelia Addler is an easy read. It begins with the main character Shiela struggling to deal with her recent divorce. The tension builds with the loss of her job and her subsequent financial worries. The story rises in action as her greedy and grasping ex husband decides he wants to sell his mother’s seaside house. Shiela loves her mother in law and chooses to help her save her home and tea shop. The dialogue between Shiela and her mother in law and her daughter Eliza is engaging. The description of the seaside provides lovely imagery. I wish Addler had developed the conclusion and tied up the narrative loose ends. Overall a good read 7.5/10
