So she can’t say no when she’s offered a job by Chinese actress Wei Fangli, with whom she shares an uncanny resemblance. Wei pays Gracie a small fortune to pose as her for publicity functions, but this dream job quickly becomes a major roller-coaster ride, especially when it comes to Wei’s handsome but exasperating co-star, Sam Yao. The Stand-In is a charming and romantic “be careful what you wish for” story.

Light read.
It was fine. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate in. It’s not exactly what I was hoping to read, but I’m not upset that I spent money on it. It’s categorized as a romantic comedy, but I didn’t find it all that funny. It was cute and relatable. There’s not a lot of sexual tension or chemistry in it. Very vanilla. The romance is built more on friendship. It’s sweet and very PG. I wish the romantic bits had a bit more spice. Although it IS a romance, the romance is watered down by growing friendships and family dynamics. I liked the main character Gracie and the supporting characters as well.
