The Sun Also Rises is a 1926 novel written by American author Ernest Hemingway about a group of American and British expatriates who travel from Paris to the Festival of Fermín in Pamplona to watch the running of the bulls and the bullfights. An early and enduring modernist novel, it received mixed reviews upon publication. Hemingway biographer Jeffrey Meyers writes that it is "recognized as Hemingway's greatest work", and Hemingway scholar Linda Wagner-Martin calls it his most important novel.

What a surprise!
This novel is timeless. Would love to see it set modern times in a film ....
Great Novel? Really!
Well I'm probably demonstrating my lack of literary refinement. This book is considered to be one of the best novels ever after all. But to me it reads like a "What I did on my summer vacation" essay written by a high school student. What's more, the hedonistic and entitled characters are all somewhat unlikable in their selfishness and their lack of making any positive contribution to humanity in general. Traits that would be more understandable in teenagers, but in adults its somewhat tiresome.
