Publisher Description

Anne Brontë (1820-1849) was an English poet and writer, the youngest of the Brontë sisters. In comparison with her two elder sisters, she didn't become really famous in the literary field. Nevertheless, her two major works — novels 'Agnes Grey' and 'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' gaine recognition as examples of classical English literature. Anne Brontë's writing style features rony and realism, and that makes it different from the usual English literature of those times which featured idealised picture of life. Both novels contains criticism of the moral code in Victorian England and the position of a woman in English society. They are considered to be among the first feminist literary works.

'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' is an epistolary novel first published in 1848. Nowadays it's considered the most radical work of the Brontë sisters. The novel is composed as a narration within a narration. The story is divided into three parts which are all centered on the Wildfell Hall estate, and the intrigues of its inhabitants.
