Level Up your RPGs
This book is a great resource for people at all stages of their journey into RPGs.
If you are new to RPGs, this book gives you the basics of how to play and several quick games you can try out to get an idea of what you and your group enjoys.
If you have some experience, this book provides good tips and tricks to get more out of your experience as player or GM.
If you are seasoned veteran, this book has 40 original games with fresh ideas, showing that the RPG genre is only limited by the thoughts you can hold in your head.
James D’Amato has collected (and properly credited) the ideas of many authors and achieved quite a feat in creating categories that allow you to find exactly what you are looking for. I would love if this organization could be expanded and provided online (eg. boardgamegeek.com) so that anyone into RPGs could search and learn about RPGs they are interested in and where to purchase them.
Strong recommend for this book.
PS. If you want to hear some of these games in action, many of them have recorded actual gameplay on the author’s podcast, One Shot. Most of you probably know this already.
