The World Set Free

H.G. Wells, a frequent writer of the effects on the human race after war, does what he does best in The World Set Free. In this classic, Wells describes nuclear warfare and has clearly done his research when it comes to the science behind it all. He discusses radiation that would be left behind in the aftermath of a nuclear war, and how it would drastically alter the world around us. Looking back on this work in hindsight, one might begin to believe that leading scientists throughout history, the likes of which brought us the atomic and nuclear bombs, got their beginning ideas from Wells himself, as much of what he wrote has seemingly come to pass in the decades since. Fascinating, yet terrifying all at the same time.
