The journey of Joseph Freeman, a Black high school football star, continues. 

The setting is Cullingland, Georgia, the first racially-integrated town in America. It is a place of real peace in the US, a country on the brink of another civil war. The year is 1963, and throughout the country there is total segregation, constant civil unrest, and a nationwide sundown curfew. But in Cullingland, Black and White people are working together, playing together, and embracing one another in a way that no one thought was possible. When Joseph and his family moved there over the summer, they were welcomed with open arms. 

But soon it all starts to unravel. The town Joseph thought was a paradise becomes a jungle of deception and lies. Just before he stumbles upon the entire truth, he is kidnapped and taken to a place where he faces his most difficult tests, and loses himself. But in Book II of this YA political thriller series, Joseph overcomes the heaviest of trials and finds himself again. In doing that, the entire world as he knows it is changed forever...
