The body of a young man is found behind a strip club. His skinless hand is clutching an open book. A message is written in his own blood. Detective Stella Mahoney, yanked from a heavy metal and bourbon bender, is thrust into a hunt for the Skin Peeler. Her inherited Mahoney instincts heighten. 

Lolita eases the grip of her damaged brain by immersing herself in MTV videos. The contortion of her lip distorts her rhymes. Her mind flickers back to 1993 when she was the guitarist of Electric Skin and in love with the lead singer. She's obsessed with achieving the perfect performance.
