Three Boys Gone is his first novel aimed squarely at adults, and he succeeds in maintaining the ground-level thriller elements that have made his previous work so engaging. This relentless page-turner follows teacher Grace Disher, who leads a group of teens on a hike that turns deadly when a treacherous storm hits the rugged Victorian coastline. After the titular three students are lost at sea, the ensuing investigation centres on Grace’s actions—and potential inaction—during the emergency.
